UIL Holdings Corporation (NYSE:UIL), headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut, is the holding company for The United Illuminating Company, a regulated utility providing electricity and energy related services to 323,000 customers in the Greater New Haven and Bridgeport areas.
As of December 31, 2007, UIL Holdings and its subsidiaries had a total of 981 employees,
including 401 who were members of Local 470-1, Utility Workers Union of America, AFL-CIO. UI and Union Local 470-1 are parties to a six-year collective bargaining agreement which expires on May 15, 2011.
